CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The City of Cedar Rapids is adding more alley trash pickup this week.
Alley collections resume for Wednesday customers who had alley pickup before the August derecho, and for some Friday customers.
The alley service was restored for Thursday customers last week.
The city says progress in returning to normal trash collection has come as utility companies have cleared alleys of low hanging wires.
Alley collection resumes for a limited group of customers with regular Friday collection, who had alley collection prior to the derecho, and who live within the following boundaries: east of 19th Street NE, between 1st Avenue and Mount Vernon Road.
The city says all other customers will continue to have their carts collected from the street until further notice.
