Des Moines police dog gets protective vest

(Des Moines, IA) -- One of Des Moines' police dogs is getting a protective vest. The Non-profit group "Vested Interest in K-9s" is donating it to a Des Moines police dog named Hobbs. Theses vests are not cheap- each one costs about $2,000. The vests weigh 4-to-5 pounds and last for five years.

The vest is sponsored by a Connecticut woman and will be embroidered with the sentiment “Born to Love- Trained to Serve- Loyal Always."

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., established in 2009, is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies throughout the United States.
