(West Des Moines, IA) -- A teen is accused of setting fire to a vacant office building in West Des Moines last month. Police say a 17-year-old has been charged with Arson, in connection with a fire in a building on 8th Street. The former office building at 1231 8th Street had been slated for demolition to make way for new construction.
The large fire, the afternoon of November 2nd, caused heavy smoke to drift across nearby I-235 during afternoon traffic.
Crews had to evacuate a nearby restaurant, there were no injuries.
