WASHINGTON, DC - Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley says he may run for an eighth term in 2022.
Grassley told The Cedar Rapids Gazette he's able to do the job, and is working as hard now as he did 40 years ago.
The Republican is one of the two oldest sitting senators at age 87, along with Democrat Diane Feinstein of California.
Grassley would be 95 at the end of an eighth term if reelected.
He currently chairs the Judiciary Committee, which will hold hearings on President-elect Joe Biden's Attorney General nominee next year.
Two Senate runoff elections in Georgia will determine which party will controls the chamber in the upcoming congressional term, and whether Grassley remains the chairman or becomes the ranking Republican in the committee.
Grassley told The Gazette he plans to make a decision on running for another six-year Senate term by the middle of 2021, and that he's being encouraged to do so by Republicans in Iowa and the Senate.
He plans to hold annual meetings in all 99 counties in Iowa again in 2021.
