COVID vaccinations in Iowa surpass 25,000

(Des Moines, IA) -- More than 25,000 people in Iowa have now been vaccinated against COVID-19. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds' Office says as of Monday, vaccines have been given to 25,223 individuals. Iowa's rate of vaccine administration is 30-percent, compared to a 19-percent national average. State health officials plan to add vaccine data on the coronavirus.iowa.gov website soon. The C-D-C is also expected to launch a vaccine tracker in the coming days.

Health care workers in Iowa are among the first to get the vaccine, along with staff and residents of long term care facilities.

One week ago, Iowa health officials indicated nearly 8,000 Iowans had received the vaccine.
