Police Investigate Murder After Victim's Rent Car Crashes During Chase

LAKE PARK, Iowa - Police are still investigating a murder in northwest Iowa after the victim's rent car was involved in a police chase and crash.

A 23-year-old faces felony charges after fleeing from police while driving a car rented by Angel Bastman, who was found dead in her home four days earlier.

Officers have not yet connected the driver to Bastman's murder, and are asking anyone with information to contact Lake Park Police.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is now involved in the case.

Twenty-five-year-old Bastman was found dead inside her Lake Park home on December 22nd.

Twenty-three-year-old Justice Berntson was driving Bastman's rent car, when it crashed in Sioux City during the police chase days later on December 26th. Officer's attempted to stop the car after identifying it as Bastman's rental.
