Iowa Reps Send Bipartisan Letter Seeking Vaccinations for Rural Areas

WASHINGTON, DC - A bipartisan letter from two Iowa Congresswomen is seeking more COVID-19 vaccinations for rural areas.

The joint letter from Democrat Cindy Axne and newly elected Republican Ashley Hinson is addressed to the heads of the CDC and Health and Human Services.

It says the current model for rolling out vaccines favors large population centers at the expense of rural areas.

Axne and Hinson together represent 36 Iowa counties that include both urban and rural areas.

The two Congresswomen have sharply different views on many issues, including whether President Donald Trump should be impeached during his last days in office.

Their joint letter notes that 25 counties with the highest rates of reported cases per capita had populations of fewer than 50,000 people while 18 had fewer than 10,000.
