Man in Custody After Break-in Through Child's Bedroom Window

(Des Moines, Iowa) -- A man is in custody after Des Moines police say he broke into an apartment through a child's bedroom window late Wednesday night.

The break-in happened in the 2000 block of King Avenue. Police say a child inside the apartment woke up to find the burglar removing the window screen and trying to get inside. The child and the apartment's two adult residents fled and called police.

Officers arrived at the scene and found Michael Henle hiding in the kitchen. Police say he had searched the apartment looking for cash and credit cards.

Henle is currently being held at the Polk County Jail.
