Davenport, IA -- A winter storm will dump up to almost a foot of snow in parts of Northwestern Iowa Thursday into Friday, with blizzard conditions likely in Western Iowa Friday, west of I-35.
Eastern Iowa will have lesser snow totals, with 1-2 inches likely in the Quad Cities, and 3-4 inches possible in Cedar Rapids, 2-3 inches in Iowa City.
There is also the possibility of freezing rain in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City area, which is likely to impact driving on I-80 west of the Quad Cities through Iowa.
The heaviest snow will be west of I-35 and north of I-80, and all of Western Iowa is included in a Blizzard Warning Thursday into Friday. Winds are expected to reach 30, 40, even 50 miles an hour at times, and blowing snow is likely to create whiteout conditions at times.
