Four years ago I was in Washington DC for the Inauguration of President Trump. Of course there was security. There were plenty of road closures and it was confusing.
In fact my ride share driver had to go all the way back to Virginia and start again to get me even close to the National Mall and the broadcast center.
Having said that, there were no 12 feet walls. There was no razor wire that I remember and there were not heavily armed soldiers on patrol.
Now please don't get me wrong. I completely understand that it is right to make sure the event is secure. That the incoming President is safe, but the two pictures I have used here make this entire thing beyond sad. There were dozens of pictures just like these to choose from.
I am also extremely disturbed that someone felt it necessary to vet the soldiers who are there.
So how about you? Do you believe the pre-inauguration security we are seeing is required?
