DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa's police officers and State Patrol troopers were busy during yesterday's winter storm.
Des Moines Police Sergeant Paul Parizek says officers responded to more than 40-crashes yesterday.
Parizek says from 11:30 a.m. yesterday to about 5:30 this morning, police responded to 33 crashes without injury, five crashes with minor injuries, three hit and run crashes and 27 stalled vehicles.
The Iowa State Patrol posted to Facebook saying they helped more than 282 motorists and covered 82 crashes from 6 a.m. yesterday to 6 a.m. today.
Snow ordinances are in effect in Des Moines and several surrounding cities today as crews continue clearing the roads.
Law enforcement are not advising travel.
