CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Linn County residents 65 and older can begin receiving COVID-19 vaccines Tuesday.
People who qualify will be contacted by their primary care provider to schedule an appointment.
MercyCare Clinics, Unity-Point Health Clinics and several independent providers are supplying the shots that require an appointment.
People who don't have a primary care provider will get help with vaccines from Linn County Public Health.
Appointments are expected to fill up quickly. Those 65 and older are eligible for COVID-19 shots Tuesday, but can also receive vaccines at any point in the future during the rollout of vaccinations.
The providers are asking patients to not call their clinics requesting the vaccine at this time, as a high volume of calls makes it more difficult to address those patients with immediate needs.
