Lee County Child Raises Money for Law Enforcement Rescue Boat

(Lee County, Iowa) -- A Lee County child is raising money for her local Sheriff's Office to buy a rescue boat.

Five year-old Dempsey Wagner tells KCRG TV9 she had the idea to raise money for the boat after she lost two relatives to drowning in 2017.

So far, Wagner has raised over $7,300. Lee County Sheriff Stacy Weber says the department has ordered the boat and the engine, but still needs additional water rescue gear. Donations have come in from as far as Alaska and the Carolinas.

Donations can be made online through Venmo at Erin-Wagner-49 or by mail to the Lee County Crime Stoppers at 2530 255th Street, Montrose, Iowa 52639.
