High Wind, Snow Possible in Quad Cities Thursday, Friday

National Weather Service

(Quad Cities, IA) -- Blizzard conditions are possible in the Quad Cities tomorrow with high wind and snow amounts between two and five inches expected.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for counties along the Interstate-80 corridor and north of I-80 in Iowa and Illinois.

Several counties south of I-80 in Iowa will go under a Winter Weather Advisory tomorrow morning at 6 a.m.

They say winds gusting around 40mph could create whiteout conditions with blowing snow.

Travel conditions could be dangerous with falling temperatures leading to flash freezing of slush and wet snow left over from a wintry mix earlier in the day.

They say travelers should consider keeping an emergency travel kit in the car in case of being stranded.
