Midwest gets Polar Vortex with snow and bitter cold MAPS

(Des Moines, IA) -- People across the Midwest are feeling the cold this weekend with snow and sub-zero wind chills.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory across the region from Omaha to Des Moines to Davenport. They're projecting anywhere form one to four inches of total snow across the region. These advisories are scheduled to expire Saturday evening.

Omaha, Nebraska; Council Bluffs and Sioux City, Iowa

Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, Iowa; Quad Cities Iowa/Illinois

Wind chills will also be something people in the Midwest will want to be aware of this weekend.

The NWS has declared a Wind Chill Advisory for parts of central and eastern Iowa Saturday night into Sunday morning. They're warning people in central Iowa about wind chills as low as -25 and even lower in eastern Iowa, where they say it could get as low as -35.
