From Council Bluffs to Moline; from West Des Moines to Cedar Rapids; from Ames to Iowa City. All across the Midwest this week we are dealing with an arctic blast of air and extended period of extreme cold.
Yesterday on my walk with my boy Reagan, I had to carry him home. He has metal in one of his rear legs which does the same thing to him that the metal in my back does to me - it interacts with that cold and causes pain. So there I was with an 80 pound dog up on my shoulders!
So here's the thing. I hate it. I REALLY hate the cold and the snow and the ice. I've been here ten years and I have never become OK with it.
Does anyone ever get comfortable with a Midwest winter?
