State to send previously denied counties COVID-19 vaccine doses

Iowa is reversing its decision to withhold COVID-19 vaccine doses from three of the five counties who didn't use 80 percent of their allocations last week.

Buchanan County Public Health Director Tai Burkhart said the county had given all but 60 first doses available on Friday, and additional doses are available this week.

The Washington County Health Department posted on Facebook it would get its vaccine allocation this week.

Chickasaw County Health Director Lisa Welter told the Des Moines Register the state told them they would try to send the county its expected doses this week.
