Bill to ban employers from mandating vaccines advances. Good move?

Yesterday an Iowa Senate subcommittee advanced a Bill that if it became law, would prevent employers from mandating vaccines for their employees.

Senate File 193 will now advance to the full committee tomorrow. It has five Republican sponsors.

If it ever becomes law, it will also create a new exemption from required school immunizations.

The existing law in Iowa does allow employers to mandate vaccines for their employees.

The Bill faces strong opposition from the Iowa Public Health Association, UnityPoint Health, the Iowa Association of Business & Industry and the Iowa Retail Federation.

What do you think? Is this a good idea or should employers be free to create their own employment conditions?
