(Perry, Iowa) -- A Perry man serving time for severely abusing his adopted sister prior to her death by starvation has been approved for work release.
Justin Ray has served three years in prison after pleading guilty to multiple felonies. Ray admitted to kicking his adopted sister, Sabrina Ray, knocking her down a flight of stairs, and breaking her jaw. Sabrina was found dead at age 16 weighing only 56 pounds.
Adoptive parents Mark and Misty ray remain in prison for their roles in the abuse.
The Iowa Board of Parole approved Justin Ray for work release on Tuesday.
