Capitol Police suspends six officers. Are they hunting for scapegoats?

The top brass of the Capitol Police suspended six officers and placed another 29 under investigation following the review of what happened on January 6.

At the beginning of the week, Capitol Police Labor Union members passed a vote of no confidence in that leadership which included Acting Chief Yogananda Pittman who was promoted two days after the riots.

Videos from inside the Capitol have been on social media platforms for weeks. Some show officers and demonstrators casually chatting.

In January the Acting Chief said the department "has been actively reviewing video and other open source materials of some USCP officers and officials that appear to be in violation of department regulations and policies."

The suspensions are with pay.

Are they simply hunting for scapegoats following the failure to prevent the demonstrators gaining access to the building or is this something else?
