(Wapello County, IA) -- A man's dead after a Wapello County home break-in last (Thursady) night. The Sheriff's Office says a rural homeowner called 9-1-1 around 9:20 p.m. and reported a man was trying to break into the home, on 97th Avenue between Ottumwa and Agency.
Deputies arrived and found a man had been shot. Investigators say it did appear the man had forced his way into the home. The suspect was flown to University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City, where he later died.
