A warm weather week for Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Parts of Iowa could flirt with the warmest weather of year by the middle of the week.

"Tuesday will probably be the warmest day, with mid 50's at least--maybe pushing 60 degrees in far Southern Iowa," says National Weather Service Meteorologist Brad Small.

After last week's warm weather, Small says Iowa has lost a lot of it's snow pack.

"It's melted gradually. We haven't had rain on top of it, so that will improve our flooding situation--or what could be the potential," Small says.

He says warm weather this week and last week does increase the risk for flooding caused by ice jams.

"If you live in one of those prone areas along the Des Moines River near Ft. Dodge, or the Raccoon River from Adel to Van Meter keep an eye on things as the river could rise unexpectedly," Small says.

He says forecast also looks dry through the end of the week, with no rain in the forecast.
