The Ankeny Police Department confirms that the device found by the Lakeside Center on Tuesday morning was a live pipe bomb.
This pipe bomb was rendered safe by a technician from the State Fire Marshal’s office.
A polling place at the Lakeside Center was evacuated Tuesday morning after a passerby noticed a "suspicious device" laying in the grass.
Polk County Auditor Jamie Fitzgerald says the incident did not affect the votes already cast at that location.
