(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is warning ice anglers that the current stretch of warm and windy weather will likely cause ice on many areas to deteriorate, especially along shore, especially in southern and central Iowa. The DNR's reminding anglers to use caution around the edges when getting on and off the ice.
The DNR's also reminding ice anglers to bring safety equipment with them; 50 feet of rope, a throwable cushion and a spud bar. Ice conditions can change a lot in one day and thickness should be tested often.
The DNR has one final suggestion: Don’t go out alone and if the ice does not look right, don’t go out.
