Iowa Rep. Axne Responds to Pipe Bomb at Ankeny Polling Place

ANKENY, IA - The placement of a pipe bomb at a polling place in Ankeny is raising eyebrows in Washington, where Democratic Congresswoman Cindy Axne has responded.

Axne issued a statement Tuesday night condemning the action. She called it a threat to elections and thanked responders who disabled the bomb.

Axne represents Iowa's 3rd Congressional District which includes the Des Moines metro area, including Ankeny.

Statement from Representative Axne:

“I’m deeply concerned to learn that a pipe bomb was found at a polling place in Ankeny earlier today.

This threat to our elections in unacceptable, and those responsible should be held accountable for this attempted violence against our democracy and its citizens.

I want to thank our law enforcement officers, first responders, and local election officials who acted quickly to protect Iowa voters and poll workers.”
