Iowa Workforce Development adds "work from home" job openings

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa Workforce Development is adding a work-from-home jobs display to the IowaWorks website.

"There are a lot of remote jobs out there, and we knew people were searching for those. We wanted to make it easier for folks in the state of Iowa or individuals who were looking for employment in the state of Iowa," says Iowa Workforce Development Deputy Director Ryan West.

West says the year-long COVID-19 pandemic is changing how businesses and workers look at where jobs can be done.

"Coming out of the pandemic, there will be individuals who are looking for remote jobs in general who may not have thought about it in the past. If we can connect those individuals with opportunities in the state of Iowa, that's obviously what we want to do," he says.

West says there are already lots of work-from-home jobs listed at www.IowaWorks.gov

"Certainly with over remote 500 jobs on that job board right now, that's a real good sign that this is only going to become a bigger phenomenon," he says.

West says they also encourage Iowa's employers to post their remote and work from home opportunities on the IWD website so they can increase the access to those job seekers.
