Iowa U.S. Senator Charles Grassley filed a "statement of candidacy" for the 2022 election earlier this week, but his mind is not made up on whether he will run for a historic eighth term.
"I haven't made any announcement for re-election," Grassley told WHO/WMT/WOC Radio's Simon Conway on Friday. "I usually do that during September, November, December the year before the election. I'm going to make a decision during that particular time."
Grassley also said he filed papers because of the required quarterly campaign filings.
The 87-year old Senator was first elected in 1980 and has received over 60% of the vote in each election since then.
