DES MOINES, Iowa - Sports betting continues to be strong in Iowa.
Almost $144 million was bet on sports in February, with roughly 87 percent coming from online wagers.
A change in Iowa's law January 1st is credited for boosting sports betting.
The change did away with a requirement to physically visit a casino to sign up for online sports betting in Iowa.
January's sports wagering was about $5 million higher than in February in Iowa. However, February is a shorter month and featured far fewer high profile NFL playoff games that draw heavy wagering outside of the Super Bowl.
