(Des Moines, Iowa) -- The Des Moines City Council approves two initiatives aimed at improving the city's bike trails.
The Council approved a Parks and Rec Department proposal that will connect the Easter Lake Spine Trail in Des Moines to the Carlisle Nature Trail.
A separate project approved by the City Council will repair the Beaver Creek Bridge in Johnston, which was damaged by flooding in 2019. Funding will come from $200,000 the City Council has agreed to donate. The Beaver Creek Bridge is part of the High Trestle Trail.
The Des Moines City Council says it's important for metro cities to cooperate to create the best outdoor experience across the Des Moines area.
