(Des Moines, IA) -- The Principal Charity golf tourney will allow fans into this year's event. Crowd size will be limited at the June tourney in Des Moines. Organizers plan to allow 5,000 people per day. The Principal Charity Classic has raised more than $30 million for Iowa charities since 2007. Last year's event raised a record $6.7 million, despite the event being cancelled due to COVID 19.
The Principal Charity Class is scheduled for June 1-6 at the Wakonda Club in Des Moines.
“The Principal Charity Classic has an incredible track record of uniting our community around the common cause of improving the lives of Iowa children,” said Dan Houston, chairman, president, and CEO of Principal Financial Group®. “As we plan for the 2021 tournament, we continue to prioritize the health and safety of all participants and we will take all necessary steps to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for the fans, volunteers, sponsors, and players.”
Face coverings will be mandatory for spectators, staff, and volunteers unless actively eating or drinking. There will be temperature checks and health screening questionnaires prior to entry.
Sanitation stations will be available throughout the grounds. Spectators will be encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizers and facial coverings.
“We’re excited to responsibly welcome spectators back to the Principal Charity Classic this June,” said Douglas Habgood, Principal Charity Classic tournament director. “While the fan experience will be a little different, our mission of improving the lives of more than 130,000 Iowa children remains the same.”
All tickets purchased for the 2020 Principal Charity Classic will be honored for the 2021 tournament. Additional general public tickets will be released in pods of 500 per day beginning today and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis exclusively at principalcharityclassic.com.
