DES MOINES, Iowa -- There's a high risk for grass fire across much of Iowa Monday.
The National Weather Service says strong winds, warm temperatures and low humidity are prompting a Red Flag Fire Warning for all but the most northern and northeast parts of the state, where a wind advisory will be in effect.
They say prairie grasses and untilled farm fields continue to carry ripe fuels as conditions dry out Monday.
The Weather Service is asking for no burning of brush piles or other burns as they could spark other fire.
They say conditions will ease during the evening and through the remainder of the week with cooler temperatures and lighter winds.
