IOWA - Delivery of COVID-19 vaccines to Iowa is in line to ramp up this week, with an increase of 25,000 doses.
Most of the boost will come from Johnson and Johnson vaccines, which only require a single dose.
An even bigger increase of J & J vaccines is set for next week, when the state is scheduled to open vaccinations to all people 16 and older.
At the current pace, it's possible that half of Iowa's residents could have at least one dose of a vaccine by next Monday.
Nearly 580,000 vaccinations have been completed in the state as of this morning.
Iowa ranks eighth in the country for full vaccinations and tied for 13th in the number of first doses given to people, according to data from the New York Times.
The state appears to be doing a good job in getting the vaccines it receives out to people, ranking 6th for its percentage of doses used.
