IOWA - The bicycle ride designed to compete with RAGBRAI is downsizing this year.
Organizers of Iowa’s Ride say this year's event will take place on a single weekend, instead of being stretched over a longer time frame.
They say small schools and cities were not comfortable with overnight camping from large groups of cyclists.
Iowa's Ride will take place during mid-July (16-18) in Eldora, and feature several day long rides.
A Facebook post by organizers says there will be a designated 40–50-mile route on Saturday and several riding options to enjoy on Friday and Sunday.
Activities will also include floating in a tube on the Iowa River and time spent at the city pool in the main camping area at the Eldora Municipal Park.
RAGBRAI will take place the following week between July 25th and 31st on a 450-mile course across the state from Le Mars to Clinton.
