AMES, Iowa - Members of the Iowa State University Crew Team are honoring two members who died in a boating accident Sunday.
A social media post from Tuesday evening refers to the loss of two "brothers" who are "family" with the hashtag rowing family.
Yaakov Ben-David and Derek Nanni died after an ISU Crew Club boat capsized on Little Wall Lake. Three members were rescued.
Investigators say there were high winds and cold-water temperatures on the day of the accident, and a further investigation is ongoing.
Fifteen crew club members are featured in a photo on Facebook.
Monday, Iowa State President Wendy Wintersteen said the community is "heartbroken" over the tragedy.
“The Iowa State community is heartbroken to learn of this tragic accident at Little Wall Lake," said Wintersteen. "At this time, we are focused on providing support to club members, their families and friends. We ask that everyone keep them in their thoughts during this very difficult time."
