600,000 Now Fully Vaccinated for COVID-19 in Iowa

IOWA - As of Thursday morning, Iowa has passed a milestone of fully vaccinating 600,000 people from COVID-19.

The number represents almost 20 percent of the state's population, which is well above the national average.

Data from the New York Times shows Iowa tied for ninth among states in fully vaccinating people.

The milestone comes as Iowa continues to inch closer to getting at least one dose to half its population.

The state ranks sixth in using its allotment of vaccines, and Governor Kim Reynolds has announced that the number of doses being sent to the state will ramp up to 160,000 next week.

Reynolds says the state is starting to get more of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine to accompany those from Pfizer and Moderna.

The state will open vaccinations to all people 16 and over on Monday.
