(Polk County, IA) -- Warm weather this weekend should encourage more signs of spring to pop in central Iowa. Patrice Peterson-Keys of Polk County Conservation says she's seen many signs of spring already, including forest and woodland wildflowers such as Dutchman's breeches (pictured above) and Spring beauties. She says the flowers are getting a head start now, enjoying sunshine before the tree canopy fills out.
She says you can hear another sing of spring in some locations, chorus frogs, which have been making noise for the past couple of weeks looking for a mate.
Polk County Conservation's next spring hike is April 17th, registration is required.
