West Des Moines boil order lifted

(West Des Moines, IA) -- A boil advisory for part of West Des Moines has been lifted.

“We are pleased to report that the water main has been repaired and all samples from the affected were clear with no bacteria present,” Des Moines Water Works General Manager Christina Murphy said. “It is no longer necessary or recommended to boil water for drinking or food preparation. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”

A drilling crew hit a 12-inch water main at 60th and Ashworth Road Wednesday, March 31st. The result was a loss of pressure in the water system, and the issuing of the boil advisory for an area between I-35 and Jordan Creek Parkway.
