DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa's weekly gas prices are holding steady.
After dropping a few cents last week, Triple A says the price for a gallon of regular unleaded this week is largely unchanged--averaging $2.77 across Iowa.
That price is only $.03 more than a month ago, but more than a dollar over prices a year ago when COVID-19 pandemic business and travel lockdowns took hold.
Triple A says the national price for regular unleaded is $2.86, down week-over-week for the first time since last November of last year. They say the current national average is two cents cheaper on the week.
They say growing gas supply levels and cheaper crude oil prices are putting downward pressure on pump prices.
Triple A says it's a positive sign that less expensive gas prices could be around the corner.
