DES MOINES, Iowa -- Starting tomorrow, any Iowan who wants a COVID vaccine is eligible to get one.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds says Monday, April 5th is the day all Iowans 16 and older become eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine, if they want one.
The state is expecting more COVID vaccine doses from the federal government to arrive this week which should help with increased demand.
Governor Reynolds has asked Iowans to be patient because demand still exceeds supply.
However, Iowa should continue receiving allocations from the federal government, and the White House has touted vaccines for anyone who wants them across the country before the beginning of June.
Governor Reynolds has also encouraged Iowans to get the COVID vaccine as soon as possible, once they become eligible.
Iowa has administered more than 1.6 Million COVID vaccine doses.
According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, more than 662,000 Iowans have completed the vaccine dose series.
