Iowa Senate approves revised anti-abortion constitutional amendment

The Iowa Senate has passed a constitutional amendment that states the Iowa Constitution does not protect the right to an abortion.

The amendment states "this constitution does not grant or secure the right to an abortion, or require public funding for an abortion."

It passed along party lines in the Senate, and now heads back to the House.

If approved by the House, it could head the ballot to be ratified by Iowa voters in November of 2024.
