Iowa DCI investigates Waterloo officer-involved shooting

WATERLOO, Iowa -- An officer-involved shooting is being investigated in Waterloo.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says it happened Wednesday afternoon as Blackhawk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call of a man with rifle on or near the 6th Street Bridge in Waterloo.

DCI says the man pointed the gun and chased after a deputy. A Waterloo Police Officer saw what was happening and shot the man.

The man was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo for treatment for his injuries and later transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

The officer and deputies weren't hurt.

The man who shot and officers involved have not been identified.
