Robbery suspect caught hiding behind Cedar Rapids church

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- Cedar Rapids Police say an armed robbery suspect was found hiding behind a church today (Thursday). Police say a 24-year old man reported being robbed by an armed gunman. The victim described the suspect and officers got a tip the suspect was running south on 19th Street NW.

Officers found the suspect behind Christ Church Presbyterian, 2000 1stAvenue NW.  Police say he ran around the front of the building and attempted to hide behind an air-conditioning unit. Officers were able to apprehend the individual, who matched the description of the suspect, without incident.

The suspect had the victim's wallet and a handgun.

Eighteen year old Muzuri Kevin Yenge, of Cedar Rapids, has been arrested for Robbery-1stDegree and Burglary-1stDegree. He's been taken to the Linn County Correctional Center.
