Grundy Center, IA. — The Iowa State Patrol confirms that a trooper was shot and killed during a standoff overnight. The Grundy Register newspaper reports the hours-long standoff started after a reported high-speed chase Friday evening. The paper says one suspect was arrested before midnight. Then when an armored tactical vehicle moved in to ram the house to take the main suspect into custody, there were gunshots and an officer was seen taken from the scene by ambulance.
More information is expected from the Iowa State Patrol in a press conference this afternoon.
