OMAHA, Nebraska -- The City of Omaha is considering dropping library late fines.

It’ll take three city council meetings, including a public hearing before the new ordinance can be approved.

It would eliminate library past-due fines and forgive any outstanding fines at Omaha libraries.

The American Library Association says fines are an economic obstacle to important resources.

The first reading is at the city council meeting tomorrow. The public hearing will be on April 20th.
