DES MOINES, Iowa - Drake University has a new Most Beautiful Bulldog for 2021.
Myrtle Mae is a Rescue dog who was taken in by 2003 law school graduate Whitney Bogdanski last year.
“She wanted to be loved and it was so easy to love her,” Bogdanski said. “We gave her a lot of love and she opened up.”
A crowd of hundreds watched Sunday as twenty dogs competed in the school's 41st bulldog contest.
A dog from Missouri was named best dressed after appearing in a Top Gun outfit. A dog from West Des Moines was given the Rescue Dog Recognition award.
First runner-up was awarded to Betsie, owner Mollie Gilbertson of Des Moines, Iowa, and second runner-up was awarded to Dottie, owner Cat McAuliffe of Des Moines, Iowa.
