DES MOINES, Iowa -- Iowa Realtors sold more houses for more money last month.
The Iowa Association of Realtors says sales were up about six-and-a-half percent last month compared to a year ago, and prices were about six percent higher.
"March is when we saw the saw the start of the pandemic really in our area last year when everything went to a halt."
Association President Jen Burkamper says sales are right in line with what they have been month to month.
Home sales increased 14-percent in February because of strong buyer demand.
Burkamper says realtors continue to struggle with a lack of inventory -- there aren't enough homes to meet the demand in Iowa.
"Inventory is down 36, almost 37 percent lower than last year at this time. Each home that comes on the market we're seeing multiple offers. Not just four or five, we're seeing ten, 12, 14 offers on one home."
Homes were on the market an average of 73-days in March, selling slightly faster than a year ago.
