'Like the Flip of a Switch' Summer Weather Arrives in Iowa, Says NWS

The National Weather Service

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Some areas of the state are experiencing a bit of a cold snap this weekend, but the National Weather Service says that will all change tomorrow.

"Summer-like weather will arrive like the flip of a switch on Monday, as afternoon temperatures soar into the 70s in the northeast and well into the 80s in the southwest, possibly even reaching 90 degrees at a few locations near the Missouri River valley."

The National Weather Service says it'll be windy with gusts 25 to 30 mph in some areas of Iowa.

They say there could be some showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday.

Temperatures will remain in the 60s and 70s through the rest of the week.
