DES MOINES, Iowa -- One of the biggest summer events in Des Moines is being postponed until July 2022.
80/35 is cancelled this year.
The Des Moines Music Coalition says it's out of an abundance of caution that they postpone the festival because of the COVID pandemic.
On Facebook, they say, "A non-profit festival at 80/35’s scale takes an immense amount of advanced planning, volunteers, corporate sponsors, community grants, ticket sales and much more. With the level of uncertainty in all of those areas, and the desire to always deliver the maximum 80/35 experience for attendees, we felt postponing was the best choice to ensure we can come back even stronger in 2022."
Organizers also announced a one-day festival at Riverview Park in September.
The Riverview Music Festival will be held September 4th at The Riviera at Riverview Park.
On Facebook, organizers say, "There are so many exciting things on the horizon,” says Diana Weishaar, new to the DMMC board this year, “from our education programs to artist activation and big events like The Riverview Music Festival. We are focused on growth and inclusivity, and with those goals in mind, the Northside is a perfect place to launch something new."
More details will be released later this summer.
