PELLA, Iowa -- Pella's Tulip Time festival is back on this year and it's expected to be a hit.

The Tulip Time Committee says there won't be any parades this year, but there will be plenty of other Dutch activities.

"We have seen the town full for the last three weekends because of the tulips. I just imagine once we have all the food and the other festivities, it will be large," says Lori Lorens of the Tulip Time Committee.

The 85th annual festival was canceled last year because of the pandemic.

There are 30,000 tulips in Pella this year.

"The city has done a lot of watering to keep them going. I would definitely say that there's quite a bit of color yet, some beds are beautiful yet."

Social distancing is required at Pella Tulip Time and masks are required inside any buildings in the Town Square.

Lorens says some of the festivities feature Dutch singing and dancing, pop-up performances, and an orchestra.
