Des Moines Man Facing Charges After Crash into Motorcyclists, Killing Two

DES MOINES, Iowa -- A man is facing charges after police say he crashed a Mercedes Benz into two motorcyclists, killing them and seriously injuring another in Des Moines.

Police say 29-year-old Quntonio Herron is charged with homicide by vehicle, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving with a suspended license.

He's currently in the Polk County jail.

Sergeant Paul Parizek tells WHO Radio News Herron was going well over twice the posted speed limit before the crash.

Des Moines police identified 51-year-old Jerry Coles and 47-year-old Kristy Hyde as the two killed in the accident. Police say 46-year-old Stacey Coles-Behle remains hospitalized in serious condition.
